Welcome to the new Home of BJL Built

North Side of Barn in Winter 2019

Renovations have begun

Kitchen Surface Renovation

We are  going to take the next few weeks and surface reno the kitchen. I know it looks rough and well, it kinda is. But when we moved in last summer it didn't have running water or electricity, or even a proper bathroom!  We removed 5 layers of floor and old rotted cabinets. I installed the old farm sink and made a few "old school"  base cabinets. We also installed the cook stove. So it has actually come along way.

I have a few tile samples, were going to tile up the wall behind the stove and paint everything fresh and clean. Also going to paint the floor. Stay tuned to see the finished space.

Depot Street Meats at LD. Farms is now OPEN!

Welcome to  Depot Street Meats at LD. Farms

When we bought the 40 acre farm in Jay, Maine, it was our intention to not only house BJL Built, but to also restore the 40 acre property to a working farm.

The farm dates back well into the 19th century. Over the years it would become a state of the art dairy. The giant James Way barn was bought in kit form and delivered by rail from out West. then built in the spot where it stands today.

As things often go, the farm passed through many hands and stood empty for quite awhile until  2019 when we knew it was the right spot for our family.

There is now a growing herd of Belted Galloway cattle, Katahdin sheep, Guernsey goats, and heritage poultry for meat and eggs.

The farm store, on the first floor of the 4 story barn, is now OPEN!  To learn more, please visit our farm website at Depot Street Meats
